been working my fingers right down to the bone
and I’m planning on spending some time on my own
they all tell me I need it – like I wouldn’t know
but it’s hard to find time to unwind with no home
I’m homeless ‘cause home’s where your heart’s at they say and I lost that – was tossed back in darkness and pain
now I’m talking this way to keep track of my actions
distractions are fracturing discipline – trying to keep listening
missing the point because no point was made
they have thrown those away ‘cause they’re so yesterday

ask me why am I dressed this way? sorrow won’t hesitate
no son! and no one seems willing to reach out
