Henry Bowers (Kung Henry)

Henry Bowers has for a long time done translations of songs by people like Woody Guthrie, Johnny Cash, Tom Waits and others. These songs have been performed live for a couple of years, and who knows, some day there will be studio recordings of them.
Here are a couple of video clips of some of the songs, recorded at Södermalms poetry-slam finals and the Swedish poetry-slam championship that were just recently. Henry is joined by Peter Lindholm playing the guitar in these perfomances, and is currently the one that Henry sings his translations with.

On the last of April (Valborg), we did a show for the good people that visited GH Nation’s champangegalopp. Here’s some evidence that the event actually took place and that we participated.

Henry talks about occupational hazards for lyricists, swimming, Public Enemy, ketchup addiction and the upcoming new album TVOD LP that we are currently hard working at getting finished.

The 12th-15th of May, the National Swedish poetry-slam championship is going to be held at Reginateatern in Uppsala. Henry Bowers is both one of the persons arranging this event, and also one of the guest poets. On friday, the 14th, Henry is going to bring Peter Lindholm to sing a couple of songs and read some poetry.

The event is free of charge (though you need to get tickets to be sure to get a seat), except for the day of the finals, Saturday the 15th, when tickets will cost 50 kr.

A whole lot of poets from all over Sweden are going to compete in various different competitions, you can get all the info on poetryslam.se or check out the facebook-event.

We’ve added our good friend Spakur’s wonderful first solo album “Lördagen den 14:e” to the webshop. We released his album on our label Kafkaotiska Inspelningar a while back, and thought that people who want to listen to Henry Bowers/Kung Henry for sure would dig Spakurs stuff too.

The release party at Orange in Uppsala was a blast, and now you can order the album directly from us here at henrybowers.com, check out our shop when you feel like consuming.
